GlowKOTE is a photoluminescent
(glow-in-the-dark) coating that can be applied to virtually any
surface to provide illumination without using electricity. GlowKOTE
is formulated using a non-radioactive rare-earth element that stores
energy during exposure to ordinary light and releases it when the
lights go out, providing low-level illumination for up to 12 hours
after a fifteen minute exposure to artificial or natural light.
Appearing white in daylight conditions, GlowKOTE will "glow"
in a pleasing color when lights are removed. Marine Green and Cool
Blue colors are currently available but GlowKOTE can be prepared
with other color choices if necessary. (Contact factory for additional
details).
GlowKOTE provides unmatched safety, value, ease of use, and versatility.
It can be easily applied to almost any surface to permanently mark
exit paths, hazards, or other obstacles in the dark. Once fully
cured, GlowKOTE is resistant to chemicals, solvents, salt, or UV
exposure and will not chalk, chip, flake, or peel. Because GlowKOTE
is water based, non-toxic, non-radioactive, and odorless, it is
safe for use on all indoor and outdoor applications.

Building Safety Applications:
Although the applications are endless, GlowKOTE is commonly used
in buildings and public facilities to provide safety in the dark
as well
as in black-out or smoke-filled conditions. GlowKOTE can be used
to mark emergency egress routes, walkways and pathways, stairways,
hallways, and ramps as well as potential safety hazards that otherwise
wouldn't be visible in the dark. To a building occupant, this additional
safety measure can mean the difference between life and death. To
a building owner who is responsible for building occupant safety,
the difference can mean the reduced possibility of lawsuits or litigation.
Studies have shown that in emergency situations, exit routes to
safety must be clearly visible or panic will spread, further endangering
the lives of building occupants. Federal building codes require
battery powered emergency lighting to illuminate stairways and exits
but in the event of a fire, smoke rises to the ceiling and often
clouds visibility, reducing the effectiveness of conventional emergency
lighting. GlowKOTE can be used to minimize this safety issue by
providing illumination at the ground level so that building occupants
can easily find their way to safety.
Unfortunately, conventional emergency lighting systems are not fail-safe
and may not perform during an emergency situation. They require
electricity and regular maintenance to remain operational however,
as with most mechanical devices, the possibility for failure exits.
Since GlowKOTE charges with ordinary light and doesn't require electricity
to operate, it is virtually maintenance free and extremely reliable.
Why Building Owners Should Use GlowKOTE:
• Visitors to hotels and public buildings are rarely aware
of the exit routes, adding to the chaos in an emergency situation.
GlowKOTE
can help building occupants find their way to safety when the
power goes out.
• No electricity is required, making GlowKOTE's illumination
extremely reliable and virtually maintenance free.
• GlowKOTE is visible in smoke-filled conditions, enhancing
the speed and safety of an evacuation.
• GlowKOTE can facilitate fire department personnel's rescue
and fire-fighting efforts.
